Town residents are charged a Refuse Fee on the annual tax bill that is sent by Cecil County. This fee covers garbage collection, curbside recycling, yard waste, and bulk trash pick up. Garbage collection is every Wednesday. Residents please have your garbage receptacle at the curb when the Town’s contractor comes to collect in the morning. Items should be placed curbside no sooner than 24 hours prior to the scheduled pick up. In the event that a regular collection day falls on the following holidays, collection will occur on the following business day: New Years Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day.

Yard Waste
Yard waste can be picked up by the Town’s Public Works Department on the first and third Mondays of each month. In order to take advantage of this service residents must call Town Hall to schedule a pick up. The Town will dispose of plant clippings that have been bundled or bagged in such a way that they can be easily picked up by one person. The Town will not dispose of tree branches greater than 3 inches in diameter or 3 feet in length, animal waste nor any bags that contain residential waste.
Bulk Trash
Bulk trash can be picked up by the Town’s Public Works Department on the third Monday of each month. In order to take advantage of this service, residents must call Town Hall to schedule a pickup. The Town will dispose of appliances, furniture, carpet (cut and bundled so it can be carried by one person), rimless tires (limit 2), mattresses (covered in plastic) and metal items not to exceed 50 pounds each. Please note, the Town (will not) dispose of any items that are the result of an eviction or moving out, residents will need to remove these items themselves or make arrangements with their landlord. The Town will not dispose of any hazardous materials, construction/demolition debris, nor animal waste.
