Town of North East Completes Upgrades at North East Community Park
North East, MD — The Town of North East announces the completion of several significant upgrades at the North East Community Park, designed to enhance recreational spaces and improve accessibility for all residents and visitors. These projects were funded through a combination of grants and other sources such as the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) ensuring minimal impact on the Town’s general fund.
Town Bathroom Renovation
The Town’s public bathrooms at the community park have been fully renovated, including the installation of new porcelain fixtures, doors, windows, concrete stabilization, paint, epoxy flooring, partitions, hand dryers, and baby changing stations. These upgrades provide a more modern, accessible, and user-friendly facility for visitors.
New Large Pavilion
A new 30 ft by 60 ft pavilion has been constructed to replace the previous deteriorating structure. The new pavilion includes a new concrete pad and tin roofing, providing an improved space for community gatherings and events.
New Playground and Exercise Equipment
As a recipient of the Maryland Department of Natural Resources’ Community Parks and Playground Program, the Town has added new playground equipment and exercise stations along the walking trail.
Veterans Memorial – Legacy Bricks
Veteran Memorial “Legacy Bricks” have been installed at the park to honor those who have served or are currently serving in the military. This installation provides a lasting tribute to the men and women who have contributed to our nation’s freedom.
Electrical Outlets/Access
New electrical outlets have been installed at various points around the park, offering increased convenience for events and activities.
Volleyball and Horseshoe Recreation Options
New sand volleyball and horseshoe installations have been added to expand recreational options available at the park for residents and visitors.
Handicap Accessible Sidewalks/Ramps
In efforts to improve accessibility, new handicap-accessible sidewalks and ramps have been constructed for easy access to our pavilions.
Total Investment in Community Park Upgrades: $343,828.02
These upgrades represent the Town of North East’s ongoing commitment to enhancing community spaces and ensuring all residents can enjoy the park’s many diverse amenities. By leveraging grants and ARPA funding, these projects were completed efficiently without utilizing the Town’s general fund.
