Cycle for Ceil
8:30 am - 12 pm - Fair Hill NRMA - A cycling event of three distances; 15, 35 and 65 miles from the scenic Fair Hill Natural Resources Management Area and traveling throughout Cecil County, highlighting much of the land that the Cecil Land Trust has worked to preserve. All routes have multiple well-manned rest stops that provide drinks, snacks and restrooms. Upon completion of the ride, cyclists are rewarded with Kilby Cream Ice Cream and homemade goodies. Cycle for Cecil benefits the Cecil Land Trust, which works to preserve the open space and farmland that makes Cecil County so unique. The AJGA tournament presented by Golf Performance Center will be held May 1st-3rd at the Rising Sun course. Friday will be a practice round. A shotgun start at 1pm, Saturday will be a split tee time at 11;30 am and 1:30 pm. Sunday will be a 7 am shotgun start. There will be galleries set up for people to come and watch all 3 days. There is no fee to come and watch the tournament.

The Town of North East will be flushing fire hydrants beginning Sunday April 19, 2015 thru April 23, 2015 starting at 10:00 pm until 6:00 am. 

Flushing of the hydrants is necessary to provide better quality water and fire protection.  Customers may experience fluctuations in pressure and/or discoloration of their water during flushing.

If you experience discolored water, run your cold water tap until it clears.  During periods of discoloration, postpone washing clothes and limit your use of hot water until the cold water clears.

MAINTENANCE DEPARTMENT - MAINTENANCE II

 The Town of North East is seeking applications for a full time Maintenance II position with the Maintenance Department. Responsibilities include maintenance of Town owned property & buildings; equipment maintenance; minor road & sidewalk repair; grass mowing; snow removal & other duties as assigned by the Supervisor. Applicant must possess a valid MD driver’s license and a high school diploma or equivalent. The applicant must also possess a valid MD commercial driver’s license (CDL) within six (6) months of being hired. The pay range in this classification is $9.00 to $14.60 per hour. 272 Bridge Closure - Revised Transit Schedule

Due to the Route 272 Bridge closure in North East, the revised Perryville Connection Rt 2 & Mid County Connection Rt 4 transit schedules will be in effect until the bridge reopens. Cecil County Transit has attempted to modify the times to the best of their ability; however, due to the uncertainty of traffic flow, all transit customers will undoubtedly see potential delays during peak traffic flow periods.   See the revised schedules below:


DRAFT ORDINANCE 2015-03-01 NORTH EAST FLOODPLAIN REGULATIONS
March 16, 2015

The North East Planning Commission will conduct a Public Hearing on April 1, 2015 to hear public comments regarding Ordinance 2015-03-01. Following the Public Hearing, the Planning Commission will form a recommendation to the Mayor and Commissioners regarding the updated North East Floodplain Regulations, Maps and Flood Insurance Study.  The Mayor and Commissioners will conduct a Public Hearing on April 8, 2015 to hear public comments regarding Ordinance 2015-03-01.  The Mayor and Commissioners will vote on the proposed Ordinance after the Public Hearing.  The draft Ordinance and Regulations and Maps can be found under the Planning and Zoning section under File Downloads

The Town of North East Water Treatment Plants is optimally fluoridating water since August 6, 2009. Adults and children who receive their water from these water treatment plants and who are taking prescription fluoride supplementation should contact their dentist or physician concerning continuation of the fluoride supplementation.
