I am very pleased to have the privilege of welcoming you to the North East, Maryland community, located in rural Cecil County, Maryland. We have a charming Main Street surrounded by a variety of homes. Our residents enjoy sharing the rich history and charm of our town, and our business owners have provided a variety of dining and shopping experiences. We have a scenic town park with picnic tables, pavilions, and a large playground. We are located at the head of the North East River, so we are afforded all of the leisure activities that the water provides, including swimming, boating, fishing, and crabbing. Pool Fill Sewer Adjustment discontinued by Cecil County Government

  On June 9, 2014, we received a letter from the Cecil County Finance Director stating the County will no longer adjust county sewer bills for pool fills. Please click here to view the County’s letter. For further information, please contact the County at 410-996-5200.

North East Triathlon August 4, 2014

We would like inform the public that there will be the annual North East Triathlon on Sunday, 8/24/14 between the hours of  5:15am and 11:00am.  The event is managed by Piranha Sports in conjunction with local authorities and police to monitor traffic control accordingly.  Expect some minor delays and minor detours when traveling through North East, MD during these hours particularly along Route 272 and Irishtown Road.    The official link for the race along with details, maps, etc. is at this link

The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) has provided an update to the Floodplain Maps for The Town of North East.  To review a copy of the Preliminary Flood Insurance Rate Maps, please click on the Planning and Zoning portion of this website. The Town is required to update their 7/8/2013 Floodplain Maps and Ordinances in 2014.   Feel free to contact the Planning Office with any questions. 

MD 272 Bridge Updates
October 21, 2013

Construction is scheduled to begin in 2014 on the bridge over the Amtrak railroad tracks in North East on MD 272. The new bridge will provide two lanes of traffic, wider shoulders and sidewalks to accommodate bicycle and pedestrian traffic. The project will take up to two years to complete, but the construction will be phased such that two lanes of traffic are maintained through most of the project. Click here for more details.

Important Notice about Your Water
October 14, 2009

The Town of North East Water Treatment Plants is optimally fluoridating water since August 6, 2009. Adults and children who receive their water from these water treatment plants and who are taking prescription fluoride supplementation should contact their dentist or physician concerning continuation of the fluoride supplementation.

If you have any questions, contact your dentist, physician, the Cecil County Health Department at 410-996-5168 or contact the North East Town Hall.
