Town of North East Announces Completion of General Infrastructure Upgrades Funded by ARPA and Other Sources
North East, MD — The Town of North East is pleased to announce the successful completion of several vital infrastructure upgrades aimed at enhancing public spaces and community facilities. These projects were funded through a combination of the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) and other external sources, ensuring no impact on the Town’s general fund.
Repaving of Municipal Parking Lot
The municipal parking lot has been milled and repaved, improving both parking accessibility and pedestrian safety for residents and visitors.
New Decorative Street Poles and Seasonal Banners
South Main Street now features decorative street poles and seasonal banners, along with updated signposts and street signs that meet Maryland Department of Transportation (MDOT) safety and compliance standards.
Renovated Public Restrooms at Municipal Lot
The public restrooms at the municipal parking lot have been renovated with modern fixtures, slip-resistant flooring, and an overall enhanced user experience.
Repaving and Drainage Improvements at NEPD Lot
The North East Police Department parking lot has been repaved, with curb and drainage enhancements added to support effective stormwater management as preparations continue for the completion of the new NEPD administrative building.
Sidewalk Repairs Near North East Fire Company
Sidewalks near the North East Fire Company have been repaired to improve pedestrian access and ensure safety.
Paving of Maintenance Yard Parking Lot
The Maintenance Yard parking lot has been paved to enhance operational efficiency, supporting the daily use and storage of heavy machinery by the Maintenance Department.
Leslie Water Treatment Plant Siding Repairs
Repairs and replacements of tin siding at the Leslie Water Treatment Plant have improved the facility’s structural integrity, providing better protection against environmental factors.
New Video Message Board
A new video message board has been installed to enhance communication with residents and visitors during town events.
Total Investment in Infrastructure Upgrades: $445,368.90
These projects underscore the Town of North East’s commitment to maintaining and improving public infrastructure. By leveraging ARPA and external funding, these upgrades were completed efficiently without utilizing the Town’s general fund.
