Statement from the Mayor of North East
Today, our community is heartbroken by the tragically unexpected loss of a North East Middle School student.
On behalf of the Town of North East and the North East Police Department, I extend my deepest condolences to the student’s family, friends, classmates, and everyone whose lives were touched by this young person. No family should have to endure such a heartbreaking loss.
I want to recognize our dispatchers, first responders, law enforcement officers, school community, and resource partners who are undoubtedly facing an incredibly difficult day.
The Town of North East will continue to come to the table to work with our State partners to enhance our vehicular and pedestrian mobility and infrastructure.
Above all, today is about supporting a grieving family and coming together as a community.
Kelly Benson
Mayor, Town of North East
