The governing body of the Town, elected by the registered voters of the Town. The Board consists of five elected officials (4 commission members and the mayor). The Board is responsible for municipal policies and legislation. Board meetings are held the second and fourth Wednesday of every month. Meetings begin at 7:00 P.M. at the North East Town Hall Meeting Room, located at 106 S. Main Street Anyone wishing to be placed on the agenda will need to call 410-287-5801 by noon the Friday preceding a town meeting.

Town Administrator

The Town Administrator is responsible for the general operation and management of the Town Government and is the chief administrative officer and chief personnel officer. The Town Administrator and the Department Heads shall be the responsible parties for choosing employees at any level below that of Department Head. Department Heads shall be appointed by the Mayor with the advice of the Town Administrator and subject to the confirmation of the Mayor and the Board. The Administrator also assists the Mayor and Commissioners in preparation of the budget and shall be responsible for any and all other duties specifically assigned by the Mayor and the Board, inclusing overseeing all capital projects for the Town.

Melissa graduated from Western Maryland College in May 1983 with a BA in Economics and Business Administration. She has served as the North East, Maryland Town Administrator since April 7, 1985. She lives in North East with her husband Jeff and their six cats and one dog.
