I am very pleased to have the privilege of welcoming you to the North East, Maryland community, located in rural Cecil County, Maryland. We have a charming Main Street surrounded by a variety of homes. Our residents enjoy sharing the rich history and charm of our town, and our business owners have provided a variety of dining and shopping experiences. We have a scenic town park with picnic tables, pavilions, and a large playground. We are located at the head of the North East River, so we are afforded all of the leisure activities that the water provides, including swimming, boating, fishing, and crabbing. “Cecil County Bicycle Master Plan – North East Component” – WORKSHOP 

Notice is hereby given that a Workshop will be conducted by WILMAPCO on February 1, 2012 from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. to review and discuss the proposed North East component of the Cecil County Bicycle Master Plan.

The Workshop will be held at the North East Town Hall Meeting Room, 106 South Main Street, North East, Maryland. The public is invited to attend.

Snow Removal

Snow Removal

“All owners and persons in possession of any land or premises situated on any street, alley or highway within the limits of the town where sidewalks have been or may hereafter be laid shall remove the snow therefrom the entire length thereof for a width of at least three (3) feet and may deposit the same along the remaining portion of said sidewalks nearest the curb within ten (10) hours after it has ceased falling, unless the same shall have fallen between the hours of 5:00 p.m. and 7:00 a.m., in which case it shall be removed before 6:00 p.m. the same day.”

“In the event snow and ice on a sidewalk has become so hard that it cannot be removed without likelihood of damage to the sidewalk, the person in charge of its removal shall, within the time mentioned in Subsection A hereof, cause enough CaC12 or some comparable substance to be put on the sidewalk to make travel thereon reasonably safe, and then shall, as soon thereafter as weather permits, cause a path in said sidewalk of at least thirty-six (36) inches in width to be thoroughly cleaned.”

FEMA IS UPDATING THE FLOODPLAIN MAPS

The Department of Homeland Security's Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) has produced a revised Flood Insurance Study (FIS) and revised Flood Insurance Rate Maps (FIRM) for the corporate limits of the Town of North East.

To verify if your property has been impacted by the revisions to the Flood Insurance Rate Maps, please review the maps by going online through the FEMA Mapping update link at www.northeastmd.org, or by visiting the Town Hall during business hours (Monday thru Friday from 8:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.) or call 410-287-5801.

NEIGHBORHOOD YOUTH PANEL UPDATE
August 26, 2010

The North East Neighborhood Youth Panel has been in existence for two years as a community-based program for first time juvenile offenders.  Over 90% of the cases heard by the panel have been closed satisfactorily and 86% of youths that have successfully completed the program had not re-offended.  Hearings are held at the North East Town Hall and has the full support of the Town and the North East Police Department.  Please contact Dawn at 410-658-0229 or dawn481@zoominternet.net for additional information or to volunteer.



Important Notice about Your Water
October 14, 2009

The Town of North East Water Treatment Plants is optimally fluoridating water since August 6, 2009. Adults and children who receive their water from these water treatment plants and who are taking prescription fluoride supplementation should contact their dentist or physician concerning continuation of the fluoride supplementation.
